Dear Friends, I am writing to you to share the harrowing story of Mahmoud Altarabin and his children, Khalid, Mohammed, and Omar. Their lives have been shattered by the ongoing war in Gaza, and they desperately need our help to escape the devastation and find peace. Mahmoud, once a dedicated educator at the Islamic University of Gaza, has not received a salary since the university was destroyed in October 2023. His sons, Khalid and Mohammed, were diligent students, attending schools that have now been reduced to rubble due to the ongoing war. Aged seven, little Omar, who is barely starting his academic journey, has known nothing but the horrors of war.
The human toll is unimaginable. Over 15,000 innocent children have lost their lives and more than 30,000 men and women have been killed. Schools and hospitals have been decimated, leaving families like Mahmoud’s with no safe haven after having their homes destroyed. The psychological toll on these children is immeasurable. Nightmares haunt their sleep, and the deafening sounds of bombings jolt them awake in terror. Without intervention, they face a future marred by trauma and despair, devoid of the opportunity to thrive and contribute positively to society.
With your support, we can provide Mahmoud’s children with the chance they so desperately need to escape the cycle of violence to a place free from fear and uncertainty. We humbly plead your generosity to aid us in our quest. We are seeking $25,000 to facilitate their journey to Egypt, where they can seek refuge and access the essential support they need.
